My goal is to build a classroom culture where all students enjoy learning math through collaboration, movement, and interactive task cards.

What will be done with my students

To achieve my goal of helping all students enjoy and engage with math, I will design and implement interactive, themed task card activities that align with our math standards. I will be responsible for creating, organizing, and introducing these task cards throughout the school year. Each set will include differentiated questions that promote collaboration, movement, and critical thinking while making math practice hands-on and fun.
Task cards will be created on colorful paper and themed paper cutouts to spark student interest. Some sets will include invisible ink answer checks, allowing students to reveal correct answers with UV pens for instant feedback. Other sets will use clothespins clipped onto the answer choices—when students flip the card over, it immediately shows whether their selection was correct or incorrect, making the task cards self-checking. To add an element of excitement, students will occasionally use sticky hands to “grab” task cards from around the room during scavenger hunts or review games.
Task cards will be incorporated into lessons in a variety of engaging ways, including gallery walks, solve and switch partner challenges, escape-room-style reviews, and math scavenger hunts.
This project will impact approximately 140 students and 1 math teacher by providing reusable, hands-on resources that make learning interactive and enjoyable. What makes this project unique is its combination of movement, creativity, and self-checking features that turn traditional math practice into an active, student-centered experience. 

 

Benefits to my students

This project will engage students in hands-on, interactive math practice using themed task cards, invisible ink self-checking cards, clothespin answer cards, and sticky hands for movement-based activities. Students will increase engagement, improve math skills, and build confidence through collaborative and differentiated practice aligned to math standards.
Measurable Objectives:
• Outcomes: By the end of the school year, at least 80% of students will show growth in engagement and accuracy on formative math assessments.
• Outputs: Purchase supplies to create task cards, invisible ink pens, clothespins, sticky hands, laminating supplies, and storage bins. Materials will impact 140 students this year and an unlimited amount of students in future years as items are reused.
Evaluation Plan:
• Academic growth will be measured via unit assessments, quizzes, and state testing benchmarks.
• Student surveys will track attitudes, engagement, and enjoyment of math.
By providing reusable, creative, and interactive math materials, this project will foster a student-centered classroom where learners actively participate, collaborate, and enjoy math while improving skills that are measurable and enduring. 

 

Budget Narrative

The laminating sheets, corner rounders, scissors, laminator, cardstock, and paper cut-outs will be used to create math task cards.

The paper trays, plastic drawers, mesh zipper bags, and binder clips will be used to organize and store the task cards.

The display stands will be used to display task cards around the room.

The key tags, padlocks, paper scrolls, UV blacklight flashlights, sticky hands, and colored dice and envelopes, will be used to create escape rooms and other engaging activities.
