Goal
This grant seeks funding to purchase essential consumable/semi-consumable supplies that support hands-on learning, collaborative activities, and differentiated instruction in Algebra and Geometry classrooms. These materials will help students engage more deeply with mathematical concepts, improve problem-solving skills, and foster a more interactive and inclusive learning environment.
Using materials will:
Increase student engagement through hands-on activities and visual learning tools.
Support differentiated instruction by providing materials that cater to various learning styles.
Improve conceptual understanding of algebraic and geometric principles through manipulatives and visual aids.
Foster collaboration and peer learning with shared materials for group work and interactive lessons.
Category
School supplies - Markers, paints, paper, crayons, clay, pencils, sharpies, modeling dough, etc.
What will be done with my students
Student engagement and understanding will be assessed through formative assessments, classroom observations, and student feedback. The use of consumable supplies will be tracked to ensure they are effectively integrated into instruction and contributing to learning outcomes.
Students will engage in cooperative groups, with partners, and individual activities using these materials that will assist in visualizing mathematical concepts. This will occur daily throughout the 2025-2026 school year.
Benefits to my students
Many students struggle with abstract mathematical concepts, particularly in Algebra and Geometry. Consumable supplies such as graph paper, dry-erase markers, sticky notes, colored pencils, rulers, and manipulatives (e.g., geometric shapes) are critical tools that allow students to visualize problems, work collaboratively, and receive immediate feedback. However, these supplies are used frequently and need regular replenishment, which is not always feasible within the standard classroom budget.
