Goal
Meeting our goals for "Focusing on Fitness"-"Believe, Achieve, Succeed"!
All equipment from this grant will be used to improve each student's physical fitness levels.
Students will learn to how to improve their flexibility, heart and lung performance and abdominal/arm strength.  Each item requested will help promote, improve, and assess each one of our student's physical fitness levels. Our overarching goal for our Physical Education students will be to develop knowledge, skills and confidence so they will enjoy a lifetime of healthful physical activity. Each item purchased for this grant will help foster  fundamental motor skills, teaching basic fitness concepts, and promoting enjoyment in moderate to vigorous movement. Various items in this grant will provide an opportunity for instructors to assess and evaluate through the "Presidential Fitness" Test.  The push up mats will be used to test for upper body strength, the pro flex sit and reach will be used to test for flexibility, the team relay, team builder puzzles, the durahop hopscotch and shuttle run testers will be use to evaluate heart and lung endurance.  The pedometers (Fitstep 2) and stopwatches will be used to help monitor our student's performance in speed and heart and lung endurance

What will be done with my students
All student's in our school will be able to use this new equipment!  All classrooms (K-5) as well as any after school program will be able to use the new equipment!  All four Physical Education teachers will be able to oversee and monitor all activities with our new "physical fitness" equipment in the regular Physical Education classes!  We would also use the equipment immediately in our Physical Education classes! Each item of this grant will used to improve physical fitness/physical fitness scores.
1.  Durahop Hopscotch- Student's will be able to improve their physical fitness by learning the basic skill of continuous hopping and learning sequencing while increasing their heart and lung endurance.
2,  AssessPro Rep-Addition Push Up Tester.- An event of the "Presidential Fitness Test"- the push up mates will help students develop form and consistency as they perform their push up test.
3.  Fitstep 2 Pedometers- (pack of 30)-Students will be able to use their assigned pedometer to accurately measure their distance, intensity and time.  While running-students will be motivated to improve their heart and lung endurance while using their pedometers.
4.  ShuttleRunner Tester-Students will be able to perform the shuttle run test (one of the events of the Presidential Fitness Test)  to their optimal level.  The shuttle run tester allows students to perform the shuttle run at their maximum speed. 
5.  AssessPro Flex-Solo Tester (sit and reach test)-Students will be able to see their scores for the linear flexibility test (Presidential Fitness Test). The Solo tester will measure the extensibility of the hamstrings and lower back.
6.Team Relay and Team Builder Puzzles-  Students will be able to use this equipment by using it in a relay formation to improve speed and agility .  
7.  Accusplit stopwatches-  Teachers will be able to use the stopwatches for multiple events in a student's fitness performance. (shuttle run test, mileage club, pacer test, etc...)
All staff will be able to use this equipment!  There is great need for physical fitness equipment at our school!  Our students will love the new equipment- it will be great "positive" reinforcement to help students increase their physical fitness scores!
 
Benefits to my students
Our students would "LOVE" all the new equipment to help improve our fitness scores!
Physical fitness is such an integral part of our Physical Education program!  Observation by all instructors to positively encourage our students to improve their physical fitness levels will be a great tool for our teachers.  Direct feedback by students and teachers will be used for our ultimate outcome.  By using and participating with the new equipment- students will be well prepared for the Presidential Fitness Test!  Also- the new equipment will help improve concentration, memory and physical health benefits-like stronger bones and muscles, healthier weight, and reduced risk of chronic diseases.  The new equipment will help provide mental and emotional benefits-increased confidence, reduced stress, and improved social skills! 
Budget Narrative
Items to be purchased in this grant would be available to all staff and used with K-5 students.
All equipment to be purchased will be used to promote and increase our student's physical fitness performance.
Items to be purchased:
1. DuraHop Hopscotch- to be used to increase heart and lung compacity.  This hopscotch rug features bright colors and numbers for enhanced visibility. The hopscotch rug is made of poly-fiber to help increase durabilty. The mat can be used indoors or out!  $115.00
2. AssessPro Rep-Addition Push Up Tester- The tester accurately counts completed push-ups-it sends an audible feedback with every rep.  Programmable for counting up/down
and adds an optional timer during testing.  $239.85 (3) mats
3. Accusplit Stopwatch-Will be used to accurately time various fitness events. Measures the period of time from start to finish and lap times. $104.24 (4) stopwatches-$104.24
4. Fitstep 2  Pedometers-pack of 30-Will be used to accurately/digitally measure speed, laps and heart rate.  $459.00
5. ShuttleRunner Tester- (4 testers)-Triangle ends keeps tester in place-ideal construction allows easy pick up and better scores! -Will be used for the shuttle run test.  Shuttles (4)-$82..64
6. AssessPro Flex-Solo Tester 2.0-$224.10- (1 tester)- provides both centimeter and inches measurement.  Sturdy steel construction. Can use for the "Presidential Fitness" and "Fitness gram" testing.  Tester measures flexibility!-
7. Team Relay Puzzles (2)- $250.20 Team Builder Skeleton Puzzles (5)-$490.50-Durable colorful floor puzzles.  Team puzzles- Different animal poly puzzles. Team Builder Skeleton Puzzles are skeleton poly puzzles.   Used for relays and other activities!  Promotes teamwork, speed and agility- in turn increases physical fitness performance!

Gopher Sport and Physical Education Corporation- All items were discounted by Gopher Company prior to quote.  Total Grant Proposal- $1965.53 No Shipping and handling for this proposal.
