Goal

The goal is to award prizes to our Student Leaders of the Month.

What will be done with my students

Shadowlawn Elementary is a Leader in Me School and we practice the 7 Habits for kids. Students are taught to embrace their leadership potential. We focus on a Habit a month and then award about 40 children a month for demonstrating that Habit. All classroom teachers, related arts teachers, ESE teachers and Resource teachers select a Student Leader of the Month. The students are then recognized in a breakfast ceremony in which family members are invited to. They are awarded breakfast, certificates and additional prizes.

Benefits to my students

The students will be awarded prizes for their leadership skills and for demonstrating the Habit of the Month. When we incorporate leadership throughout the school day, we help students understand and apply it to their learning at deeper levels.
