Goal

The goal of this grant is to create a welcoming and engaging Physical Education environment for all students at Meadowlawn. It is important for every student to experience fun through movement each day and to introduce our students to activities that promote a healthy lifestyle. The grant would allow us to purchase much needed equipment for a variety of games and activities, benefitting all students at Meadowlawn.  

 

What will be done with my students

Physical Education class is required of all students every day. The new equipment would be used for a variety of fitness games and group activities. These games and activities all promote team building, sportsmanship, peer relationships, self-control, self-reflection, and the important understanding of living a healthy lifestyle.  

 

Benefits to my students

The main benefit of this grant is for my students to enjoy and continue an active and healthy lifestyle. Not all students will become star athletes, but promoting an active lifestyle is imperative for today’s youth. My hope is this new equipment gets students moving during our 50-minute class together, making it easier to stay alert for their core content courses during the day. Movement benefits oxygen flow, energy exertion, and brain health. 

 

Describe the Students

Our student body is diverse. All students are required to take Physical Education. Meadowlawn offers special services and programs such as ESE (Exceptional Student Education), Gifted Education curriculum, Extended Learning Program, AVID-Advancement, Title I resources, and PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports). 

 

Budget Narrative

Above is the total budget for our Physical Education Program and Meadowlawn. Our DuraCoat Balls will be used for activities that include throwing, kicking, and rolling. Foam balls will be kept indoors to preserve them for future PE classes at Meadowlawn. The Half-Cones will be used for indoor and outdoor activities such as team sport games, large group activities, relay races, and for boundaries. The ToppleTubes will be used for activities such as relay and reaction challenges.
