Goal
The goal of introducing students to the Lego Wedo 2.0 robot and block coding through science enrichment is to allow students to experiment and demonstrate their understanding of science and technology concepts in real life application.
What will be done with my students
Coding is the language of the twenty-first century, and our students will benefit now and later from developing programming skills. Four Lego Wedo 2.0 robot kits would be a major contribution to our school’s makerspace. Access to these kits would allow teachers to provide hands-on learning experiences aligned to science curriculum standards throughout the entire school year. This will create learning environments that foster computational and critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork.
Benefits to my students
The expected outcome is that teachers in every grade will be able to use these kits for science enrichment. The kits can be reused year after year. As students advance in grades, they will develop more sophisticated coding and design-based thinking skills.
