Goal

As a school counselor, my goal is to have in-depth conversations with students daily. These games will help with those nerves and create a friendly fun environment for all.  

 

What will be done with my students

Students the age of 5 to 11 years old come into my office every day. When they come in, I enjoy talking with them about whichever topic they would like. The conversation might be about what is on their mind. Or the student and I can be working on different skills together throughout the duration of time. When I have these games available in my office I will be able to grab anyone that fits the topic of conversation or lesson. These games create a fun and relaxing way to have those in-depth conversations with students that might not happen when talking one on one.  

 

Benefits to my students

Each game focuses on a different social-emotional skill. For example, one game is about different ways to express your feelings. If a student or small group comes in to see me, we'd be able to play a game. Each game includes a game board/activity and different scenario cards and questions to get the conversations going. When students are playing a game they are much more relaxed and can start opening up about different topics that might not come up when we are having a conversation. This helps me as a counselor to dive deeper into any topic and have fun at the same time. All of these games are great for individual meetings with students and the different groups I see throughout the year.
