Statewide Reach for Local Impact

FIND IT FUND IT FLORIDA

As students go from class to class each day, they are expected to write math problems and essays as ways to express their knowledge of subject matter. Students are living in a world filled with technology and are comfortable using technology in various ways. I would love to bring the use of technology into the classroom as a fun way to express knowledge in Algebra I and Algebra II to students who may struggle with the concepts taught in these classes and as a way to reinforce concepts for a deeper level of understanding. MAFS.912.a-REI.3.7 states that students will be able to solve a simple system consisting of a linear equation and a quadratic equation in two variables algebraically and graphically. All students take the Algebra EOC online and would benefit from practice of such standards taught through the use of technology. I would love for my students to be able to gain familiarity with the online graphing platform through websites, to understand the technological tools needed to be successful in the 21st century as well as on statewide assessments, and to assess success and deficits in skills taught through various online formative and summative assessments. The use of i Pads in the classroom would allow these advancements to take place.

What will be done with my students

If granted the i Pads, all current and future students will be able to daily work collaboratively through technological means to reinforce skills that have been explicitly taught through direct instruction.

Benefits to my students

Currently there are 80 students that would benefit from the use of i Pads in the classroom, and many more students in years to come. It is my goal that my students be proficient on the EOC as well as provide technological opportunities to promote success for students who are on a college and career track.

Budget Narrative

i Pads for the classroom are a cost effective means of providing the tools needed to be successful in the 21st century in a practical and fun way.
