Goal
Students will bring books home nightly to read to/with their parents to increase reading fluency and comprehension.
What will be done with my students
Students will take home books nightly to read to/with family members. Students will have a choice of books that are high interest to them and introduce a variety of texts to family members as well. Students will be able to take home books for the entire year from a collection of take home readers. These readers will include books that can be read by the student as well as classic read alouds for families to read to the student. These books will also be Accelerated Reader quizzes to help increase reading comprehension in class.
Benefits to my students
By listening/reading to a book every night the student will have an increase in listening comprehension, reading fluency, and vocabulary development. Students will have a choice of books that are high interest and introduce a variety of texts to family members as well. These take home libraries will be placed in 4 classes and approximately 72 students will have access to these books.
Budget Narrative
The funds will be used to purchase four of each book title/pack as well as book buddy bags for the books to travel to and from school with the students. The books as well as book buddy bags will be distributed to the four classes listed.
