Goal

To get all 2nd Grade Teachers the resources needed to teach the Phonics Dance! Hunks & Chunks to help improve Phonemic Awareness in the classroom. 

What will be done with my students

Each 2nd Grade student will each be given their own Phonics Dance Hunks & Chunks Desk Strip to have out on their desk to use throughout the year.

Each Second Grade teacher will each get a class set of Hunks & Chunks cards to use, and hang in the class for the students to reference.  

Benefits to my students

Second Grade has been using the you tube video this year for The Phonics Dance Hunks & Chunks, We have seen so much growth and progress in how the students have caught on to this fun way of learning phonics. If we had the official posters that go with the videos, I'm certain even more progress will be seen.

This program supports a multi-sensory instructional approach. The students learn a cute and easy to remember poem or saying that teaches them the rules they are also learning with the SAXON curriculum.

As such, including manipulatives, gestures, and speaking and auditory cues increases students’ acquisition of phonics skills. Budget Narrative

Each Desk Strip set is $20 x 11 teachers = $220

Each Hunks & Chunks card set is $15 x 11 teachers = $165
