Goal

We want our school's community garden to be accessible to all of our school community, including our students in the ESE department who are wheelchair. We want for the garden to be built on strong foundations, so that our science - garden project can grow, and teachers will be able to use this garden in a variety of different ways. We are in the process of installing new garden beds, and want to also have raised beds for out students with disabilities to use.  

What will be done with my students

Students who are wheelchair bound will be able to grow, dig, water, and fully experience our school's community garden with these raised beds.  

Benefits to my students

All students at Poinciana will be able to work in our garden, including our wheelchair bound students! We want this because we call it our "PES Community Garden" so that everyone in the whole school can help it flourish and grow.

Students will benefit socially from their teamwork while working in the garden. They will benefit academically by having a lush outdoor green space for hands-on science. They will benefit nutritionally from the produce they harvest.  

Budget Narrative

We are requesting kits for accessible raised beds for our wheelchair bound students. We are requesting the necessary supplies to build and sustain these beds long term.
