Goal
To implement "Stations" in my classroom of High School English Language Learners.
My students vary from little to no English Language skills to being on the verge of exiting the English Language Sheltered Classroom.
This past summer I taught a teacher in-service for the District of EL (English Language) strategies. It is my goal to model what an effective "EL Classroom" should look like and to not only help my EL Students, but other teachers in the District as well. Implementing tables and stations will allow me to differentiate, meet their needs, and give them the best possible chance for academic success.
What will be done with my students
The activity top tables will allow students to rotate through Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking stations during their double block class period. I will utilize a "carousel movement" through the table "stations". The use different dry erase marker colors (assigned to each group) will allow students add their own ideas to other group's graphic organizers. This will enable students to draw from a vast multi-cultural experiences and background knowledge of their classmates while being in a non-threatening small group "station" where they feel safe to practice reading, writing, listening, and speaking in English.
Benefits to my students
Having the classroom equipped with "stations" would allow for a lot of movement and interaction among students (which is the best way for them to acquire the English Language). Dry erase markers will allow me to write instructional supports and examples on the student tables prior to learning. Students can write on the table tops with dry erase markers which will allow for non-linguistic-representations, doodling, small group work, visual learning, manipulative/written graphic organizers, and would support my ESE students; as well, as my EL students. Thank you for your consideration of funding this classroom grant. Having Stations would be a GAME CHANGER in my classroom!

Six Student Activity Tables for collaborative Group work priced at 109.95 per table and one Kidney Shaped Table Direct Instructions Table priced at 254.95. Shipping cost of 305.70 equals a total project cost of 1220.35.
