Goal

I want to start an after school book club where we read books that have movies soon to be released in the theaters.  

What will be done with my students

My plan is to start the book club in late August. My goal is to meet twice a month after school from August to May to discuss the current book we are reading. When the movie is released in the theater, we will meet at the theater to watch the movie so, we can compare and contrast the book and movie.

 

Benefits to my students

A book club offers all students a place to meet new students, and it gives students another chance to be involved in our school. Also, this club will help build students' reading, communication, and social skills. It will also be a way for students to experience books from a whole new perspective. There is a direct correlation between reading, increased vocabulary, and writing skills which in turn will improve test scores. Our club will need novels that will help to fuel their imaginations. Please help give our students another chance to develop their reading, writing, vocabulary, communication and social skills by funding our book club project. Our students will have the opportunity to learn and grow as they discover the world around them through the books they read. Reading makes a difference!

All teachers at FBMS will benefit from students attending the club because their students' reading and vocabulary skills will increase across the content areas. My goal is to have at least 20 students join the reading club but more would be great and welcomed.
