Goal

To purchase two reversible, portable, whiteboards for daily use in my classroom.  

What will be done with my students

These whiteboards can be used in several ways. One way is during my teacher-lead small group station. I can use this to show visuals, examples, work problems, etc. in the area of my classroom in which my small group station is set up. Another way these can be used is during review days when students can take control of their learning and work problems to show their understanding of what is being learned. These whiteboards will be used daily throughout the entire school year. Something new that I do this year is have classroom outside about once every two weeks on the tennis courts. In this activity, students go around the work problems that are clipped to the fence. These whiteboards can be rolled outside for students to collaborate and work problems together, or if teacher led, I would show students the thought process of problems.  

Benefits to my students

There are several benefits to having these in my classroom. They are portable, so can be moved anywhere around the classroom to suit the needs of my students and the learning environment. If our activity takes us outside of the classroom (ex. Indirect Measurement, Angle Pair Cornhole, etc), I can take one of these whiteboards outside my door and continue instruction! Also, if I have several students at one time working a problem, I have plenty of whiteboard space for this. With them being reversible, students can be on both sides of the whiteboard, which can lead to fun review competitions. My classroom could be transformed easily for whatever activity I plan for that class period.  

Budget Narrative

Items will be ordered from http://www.globalindustrial.com. Prices above includes tax and shipping (shipping was free on Item #1). I would be extremely grateful to receive this grant, as the grant I applied for in the fall was denied because it is going to be a future county purchase for classrooms, and I was unaware of this. Moreover, I was anticipating receiving a whiteboard similar to the one above, but the middle school teachers were the only teachers to receive them. High school teachers did not. Thank you so much for the consideration of this grant!

UPDATE FOR THE 2017 GRANT REQUEST: Before applying for this grant again, I made sure to email Mrs. Lunt about if these items were considered furniture of not. I was told these were indeed not considered furniture, but rather a TEACHER'S AIDE. Therefore, I am applying for these items again. If both whiteboards cannot be granted, then could this proposed budget be cut in half and at least one whiteboard be awarded to purchase. Thanks so much for the consideration.
