Goal
Life Science-students will be able to watch the stages of butterflies and ladybugs. Students will also be able to dissect owl pellets and identify bones from animals that the owls ate. This would be in culmination with our Life Science unit as we study ecosystems and food webs.
What will be done with my students
Students will get to observe life cycles of caterpillars to butterflies, larvae to ladybugs, and dissect owl pellets to observe bones from other animals. Students will be provided a bone chart to identify bone of animals the owl had last eaten.
Benefits to my students
Students will get a first hand experience by observing life cycles along with our Life Science unit. We would like to have enough owl pellets for students to work in partners.
Budget Narrative
The owl pellets will be used for students to work as partners in Kennedy's and Mohler's classrooms. Each classroom will have a butterfly and ladybug habitat with several larvae and caterpillars to watch go through the changes.
