Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Nassau Education Foundation - $200.00
Goal
Time for hands on science is limited in the elementary classrooms. "Stem in the Library" will allow me to integrate STEM lessons into the library curriculum.
What will be done with my students
Students will work on STEM challenges (many related to literature. For example, after reading Two Bad Ants by Chris Van Allsburg, students may be asked to construct paper tunnels to move a marble from the table top to the floor using two 90 degree angles. In small groups they will draw their design plans using only the materials provided, then they will construct and test their models.
Benefits to my students
STEM challenges will improve our students critical thinking and problem solving skills through communication and collaboration.
Budget Narrative
Materials will include items like popsicle sticks, tape, paper aluminum foil, modeling clay, and wire.
