Goal
To provide fun and engaging activities for both students and parents in the areas of science, technology and math.
What will be done with my students
Students and parents will join Hilliard Elementary School's faculty and staff and community organizations in a night filled with fun in science, technology and math related activities. Graphing with Skittles, examining density of objects with Sink or Float, Magnet Mania, Area & Perimeter, Soma Cubes, Paper Airplane Distance Challenge are just a sampling of the STEM stations students and parents can participate. Additionally, community organizations and services such as the Fish & Wildlife Commission, Nassau Extension Service, Forestry Department, Garden Club of Hilliard, FAA, OREMC, Hilliard Middle Senior's FFA Club set up booths to share and encourage students to explore opportunities in STEM areas. At the conclusion of the interactive stations, a presenter in the field will reinforce the relevance of STEM night through a live demonstration.
