Students at BCHS are constantly documenting life on their phones — but they need the opportunity to learn how professionals do it. Project Aperture: Frame the Future gives them that chance. The Nikon Z5 will introduce students to modern mirrorless technology and allow them to produce professional-level content that represents their school.
Learning Goal:
Students will practice digital media production, visual composition, and critical analysis of imagery — aligning with 21st-century communication and creative arts standards.
Electronics - Headphones, charging cables, computer mice, etc.
Students from Yearbook, Journalism, and Art will share use of the Z5 to document daily campus life, athletic events, and student achievements. They will participate in short training sessions on photography and photojournalism ethics. Each student’s work will contribute to school publications, ensuring diverse representation of BCHS life.
The project connects to the broader school mission by fostering creativity, accountability, and inclusion — and by amplifying student voices through visual storytelling.
• Greater student ownership of school media.
• Strengthened creative and digital literacy.
• A visual archive of BCHS culture for future generations.
Measurement:
Number of photos published, student feedback surveys, event documentation logs, and quality evaluations by advisors.
Funds will purchase one Nikon Z5 mirrorless camera with a kit lens. This camera will provide students access to modern, lightweight, industry-relevant equipment, expanding opportunities for hands-on learning and creative exploration.
