The purpose of this project is to improve student engagement in the MTSS testing and progress monitoring process by providing meaningful incentives such as snacks, food items, and small rewards. Many students struggle to buy in to assessments and interviews, which limits the accuracy of the data we collect. By offering incentives, we can encourage fuller participation, gather more reliable information, and better match supports to individual student needs. Ultimately, this will strengthen our MTSS framework and lead to improved academic outcomes, increased student engagement, and stronger progress toward grade-level standards.
School-Wide, Grade-Level, Or Class Events/Programs - Parent Nights, Honor Roll Celebrations, EOY Events, PBIS, LIM, etc.
This project will provide incentives such as snacks, small prizes, and other rewards to encourage students to actively participate in the MTSS testing and progress monitoring process. These incentives will be offered during scheduled assessments and student interviews to increase motivation, reduce resistance, and promote a positive testing environment. By improving participation, the project ensures that the data collected is accurate and reflective of student needs, allowing teachers and support staff to make better instructional decisions. Meeting this need will strengthen the MTSS framework at our school by ensuring students receive the right interventions at the right time, ultimately supporting classroom instruction, improving academic outcomes, and fostering a culture of engagement and accountability.
Through this project, students will show greater motivation and engagement in MTSS testing, resulting in more accurate data and increased willingness to participate in interventions that follow. With stronger buy-in, students will benefit from supports that are better matched to their individual needs, leading to improved academic performance, stronger progress toward grade-level standards, and greater confidence in their learning. We will measure these outcomes by tracking student participation rates in both testing and interventions, analyzing the quality and completeness of assessment data, and monitoring growth in academic achievement and progress monitoring results over time.
Grant funds will be used to purchase incentives that directly support student engagement in the MTSS process, including individually packaged snacks, small school supplies, and other age-appropriate reward items for our student incentive store. These items will be distributed to students who participate in required MTSS testing, progress monitoring, and follow-up interventions, helping to create a positive and motivating environment around these critical activities. Each item requested in the budget aligns with this purpose: food items provide immediate recognition and encouragement, while school supplies and small rewards offer longer-term reinforcement for consistent participation. By connecting every purchased item to improved buy-in and accurate data collection, these funds will directly enhance our ability to identify student needs and deliver the right interventions for academic growth.
