Project Description

Civics requires students to master vocabulary, processes, and systems of government—concepts that can feel abstract and overwhelming for middle school students. Wordwall allows me to transform this content into interactive activities that increase engagement and deepen comprehension. With this program, I can present the same material in multiple formats—quizzes, games, flashcards, and challenges—meeting students’ diverse learning styles and keeping them actively involved.

Wordwall offers a variety of activity types that align perfectly with Civics instruction, including:

Matching Games: Students can pair vocabulary words (e.g., “due process”) with definitions.

Quizzes & Multiple Choice Games: Quick assessments to check understanding of founding principles or government branches.

Sorting Activities: Classifying examples of rights, responsibilities, or government systems.

Random Wheel Spinners: Used for review games or discussion prompts, encouraging participation from all students.

Crosswords & Word Hunts: Reinforcing key Civics terms in an engaging way.

Timeline Activities: Sequencing events such as steps in the naturalization process or key moments in U.S. history.

Expected Outcomes

Many of my students are visual and kinesthetic learners who benefit from interactive and repetitive practice. Wordwall allows me to:

Provide differentiation, since activities can be adapted for various ability levels.

Support English Language Learners by reinforcing vocabulary in fun, visual ways.

Foster collaboration by allowing students to play activities in pairs or groups.

Offer instant feedback, which motivates students and builds confidence.

By using Wordwall, students will:

Improve mastery of Civics vocabulary through repeated practice in multiple formats.

Strengthen critical thinking by applying concepts in games that require analysis, sorting, or sequencing.

Increase engagement and motivation, turning review into something students look forward to.

Enhance retention of knowledge, as interactive learning is proven to help students remember material more effectively than traditional worksheets alone.

Purpose of Funding

I am requesting funding to cover the cost of a Wordwall subscription for one school year. This subscription will allow me to create unlimited activities, share them with my students, and adapt them throughout the year to align with the Civics curriculum.

Wordwall will transform the way my students interact with Civics content, making learning more engaging, accessible, and effective. By funding this request, you will directly support student success in understanding the foundations of American government and becoming informed citizens.

Thank you for considering this request.
