Project Description

Engagement and expression: Music offers a powerful means of self-expression and emotional regulation, especially for students who may struggle with verbal communication.
Equity: All students deserve the opportunity to experience the joy and educational benefits of music, regardless of ability level.

Expected Outcomes

Music education outcomes: Students will develop basic musical skills such as rhythm, pitch recognition, and instrument exploration using accessible tools.
Communication and social interaction: Music activities promote turn-taking, listening, and collaboration—key skills for students with intellectual disabilities.
Cognitive and motor development: Engaging with music strengthens memory, attention, and fine/gross motor coordination.
Emotional and sensory regulation: Participation in music-making can support self-regulation and reduce anxiety, creating a more positive learning experience
