a) Overall Purpose and Needs Addressed
The purpose of this project is to provide equitable access to essential soccer equipment—including socks, shin guards, and soccer bags—for students whose families cannot afford them. This project addresses the need for student safety, participation, and inclusion by removing financial barriers that prevent students from fully engaging in the soccer program. By ensuring every player has the proper gear, we are promoting fairness, preventing injury, and building a sense of belonging for all students regardless of economic background.
b) Learning Goal or Academic Outcome
This project supports student learning and academic outcomes by using soccer as a platform for developing critical life and academic skills. Participation in organized sports has been shown to improve focus, attendance, and overall academic performance. Through this project, students will learn teamwork, discipline, goal-setting, and perseverance—skills that directly translate into stronger classroom performance. Additionally, participation in school athletics fosters a positive school culture, which supports higher student engagement and improved social-emotional learning outcomes.
Physical Education Equipment - Rackets, bats, balls, nets, jump ropes, etc.
a) Project Description and Activities
This project will provide students with essential soccer equipment—including socks, shin guards, and soccer bags—that many families cannot afford. The project will purchase these items and distribute them directly to student-athletes to ensure every player is properly equipped for practices and games. Activities will include:
Identifying students in need through our athletic program.
Purchasing safe, durable soccer equipment.
Distributing gear equitably to all students who require support.
Integrating the equipment into our practices and competitions to ensure students can safely and fully participate.
By covering these basic needs, the project allows coaches and students to focus on skill development, teamwork, and participation without financial stress.
b) Meeting the Needs of Students, Classroom, and School
This project meets the needs of our students by removing financial barriers to participation, ensuring safety with proper protective gear, and fostering a sense of inclusion and belonging. For the classroom, it supports academic success by increasing student confidence, attendance, and engagement—students who feel included in extracurricular activities are more likely to perform well in school. At the schoolwide level, the project strengthens our athletic program, builds school spirit, and creates equal opportunities for all students to participate regardless of their financial situation.
a) What Will Improve/Change for Students
Through this project, students will:
Gain equal access to required soccer gear, ensuring that financial hardship is not a barrier to participation.
Experience improved safety by having the proper protective equipment (shin guards, socks).
Develop a stronger sense of inclusion and belonging by participating alongside peers with the same resources.
Show increased confidence and motivation, which positively impacts both athletic performance and academic engagement.
Strengthen teamwork, responsibility, and perseverance—skills that transfer to classroom learning.
b) How Outcomes Will Be Measured
We will measure the success of this project through both quantitative and qualitative data:
Participation Rates: Track the number of students able to join and remain in the soccer program before and after the project.
Safety Metrics: Monitor reductions in preventable injuries related to lack of equipment.
Student Surveys/Feedback: Collect input on students’ sense of inclusion, confidence, and school spirit.
Academic Indicators: Review participating students’ attendance and academic progress, since extracurricular involvement often correlates with improved classroom performance.
Coach/Teacher Observations: Document improvements in teamwork, discipline, and engagement.
Grant funds will be used exclusively to purchase essential soccer equipment that many of our students’ families cannot afford. Specifically, funds will cover the cost of:

Shin Guards – to provide critical safety equipment that prevents injuries and allows students to participate confidently.
Soccer Bags – to give students a way to carry and organize their gear, promoting responsibility and preparedness.
