Project Description

Making money have meaning, will use visual supports, manipulatives and experiential learning to teach concepts like identifying currency, making purchases, budgeting and understanding wants vs. needs and the benefit of saving to purchase bigger items with delayed gratification. By giving students real-world practice, we will foster confidence, independence and readiness for life beyond the classroom.

Expected Outcomes

The students will learn how to count money, to identify if they have enough money to purchase their items, and how to save for something they want/need as well as make sure they get the correct change back when they get change. The teacher will use pre and post assessments of money identification and counting skills. The teacher will have a checklist to document each students ability to complete purchase transactions. Students will self reflect and set goals on how to use their money to gain independence skills. The students will learn the relationship between performing jobs and being paid as well as learning how to budget their money to save for their needs and wants.

Purpose of Funding
