The primary goal of this initiative is to increase student engagement and achievement in the Lexia PowerUp Literacy Program by providing small but meaningful incentives for students who meet or exceed their weekly usage and unit completion goals.
School-Wide, Grade-Level, Or Class Events/Programs - Parent Nights, Honor Roll Celebrations, EOY Events, PBIS, LIM, etc.
We are committed to improving literacy outcomes for all students. Many of our middle and students are reading below grade level, which significantly impacts their success across academic subjects. To address this, we have implemented Lexia PowerUp Literacy, a personalized online learning program that targets three critical areas of literacy:
Word Study (decoding and spelling)
Grammar (sentence structure and mechanics)
Comprehension (reading and understanding)
Lexia PowerUp meets students where they are and adapts instruction to their individual needs. The program provides teachers with real-time data and offline instructional materials to support student learning.
While the program itself is engaging and well-structured, student motivation remains a key factor in consistent usage and goal completion. Research and experience show that tangible, timely incentives can significantly boost student engagement and effort, particularly among those who struggle academically.
Incentives will be tied directly to measurable student milestones within the Lexia PowerUp program. Examples of incentives include:
Weekly rewards (e.g., school supplies, snacks, stickers, certificates)
Monthly raffles for students who meet all weekly goals (e.g., gift cards, books, school merchandise)
Class-wide celebrations when collective goals are met
All incentives will be distributed based on objective data from Lexia’s reporting dashboard.
Expected Outcomes:
Increase the percentage of students meeting weekly Lexia usage targets.
Encourage consistent, self-directed participation in the program.
Celebrate and reinforce student growth in literacy skills through positive recognition.
Growth and usage will be measured using the Lexia Power Up program.
The purpose of the funding will be to reward students on meeting their goals. All items will go directly to students! Items will be purchased from Amazon Prime!
