Academic Outcome:
Cambridge Assessment Objectives are as follows:
AO1 Respond with understanding to literary texts in a variety of forms, from different cultures; with an appreciation of relevant contexts that illuminate readings of the texts.
AO2 Analyse ways in which writers’ choices of language, form and structure shape meanings and effects.

AO4 Communicate a relevant, structured and supported response appropriate to literary study.

Project Description

By introducing theatre-based pedagogy, the professional teaching artists from GulfShore Playhouse engage students’ creativity, encourage teamwork, and boost self-confidence while enhancing their understanding of curriculum content. The Gulfshore Playhouse Education Team will lead two 8-day residencies for two groups of 11th grade AICE students at Lely High School. This residency will occur over the course of two weeks between January 13-23 and will include a focus on a major course text, William Shakespeare's play The Tempest.

Expected Outcomes

The partnership between Gulfshore Playhouse and Lely High School holds the potential to make a profound and lasting impact on the lives of students. By leveraging strengths in social, emotional, and cognitive learning through theatre arts, we can empower students to explore their aspirations and abilities.

Purpose of Funding

Funds to be used for the cost of Gulfshore Playhouse teaching artists and will be applied to the total cost of $2,640.00.
