To motivate students to read and have the love the reading highly motivating books. Students will be able to choose their favorite book in an election and display that love of reading in a concrete way.
Learning Aids - Sunshine state book sets, robotics kits, puzzle boards, science models, engineering supplies, etc.
Students will read or the teacher will read to them the list of Sunshine State Books for grade PK-2nd grade. Teachers will have follow-up lesson plans that involve comprehension and writing after each title. Students will vote for their favorite title on Collier County voting machines in the spring. They will experience the process of an election.
Students will be highly motivated to read high interest books and experience a real election process.
I would like to use these books to also build classroom libraries at our school once the election is over.
