A sublimation printer in my biology classroom would be a powerful tool for boosting student engagement and motivation. With it, I can create custom stickers, bookmarks, and other classroom rewards that highlight key biology concepts like cell structures, DNA, ecosystems, and Florida wildlife. These vibrant, durable designs can be used as incentives for mastering challenging material, encouraging participation, or celebrating growth.

Beyond rewards, sublimation printing allows me to design eye-catching visuals that make science feel more approachable and fun. By turning biology topics into collectible stickers or personalized classroom items, I can spark curiosity, strengthen connections to the subject matter, and help students take pride in their learning. This creative approach not only promotes interest in biology but also makes the classroom a more positive, memorable space where science comes alive.

Project Description

a) This project will bring a sublimation printer into our biology classroom to make science more engaging, creative, and rewarding for students. The printer will be used to design and produce custom stickers, bookmarks, magnets, and other classroom rewards/manipulatives that highlight important biology concepts like cells, genetics, ecosystems, and Florida wildlife. These items will serve as motivational tools, celebrating student effort, progress, and achievement.
b) Students will have opportunities to earn custom-made biology stickers and classroom tokens through participation, mastering content, and reaching personal learning goals. The sublimation printer will also allow us to create vibrant visuals for classroom displays, lab station signs, and student-made projects that reinforce key concepts. By connecting learning to tangible rewards and creative expression, students will see biology not just as a subject, but as something they can proudly showcase.
Many students struggle to stay motivated in science, especially when the material feels abstract or intimidating. This project provides an innovative way to build student interest and ownership in biology learning. The rewards created with the sublimation printer will foster positive reinforcement, encourage consistent effort, and make science learning more fun and accessible. At the classroom level, this project creates a vibrant, welcoming environment that celebrates achievement. At the school level, it supports a culture of curiosity and pride in academic success, helping students feel recognized and motivated to keep growing.

Expected Outcomes

a) This project will increase student engagement, motivation, and pride in learning biology. By earning custom stickers and other sublimation-printed rewards tied to key concepts, students will feel recognized for their effort and success. The rewards will make science more tangible and fun, helping students stay focused, participate m ore actively, and develop a stronger interest in biology. Over time, this will support improved confidence, classroom participation, and mastery of core content.
b) I will measure success through both qualitative and quantitative data. Student engagement will be monitored through classroom participation and assignment completion rates. Academic growth will be tracked using classroom assessments, biology benchmark data, and EOC practice results. I will also observe changes in student behavior, such as increased willingness to take on challenges and a stronger sense of pride when earning and displaying their rewards.

Purpose of Funding

Grant funds will provide an Epson SureColor F170 Dye-Sublimation Printer for my classroom as found on Amazon.com. With this tool, I can create custom stickers, bookmarks, magnets, and other science-themed rewards that directly connect to biology concepts such as cell structures, genetics, ecosystems and Florida Wildlife. These tangible rewards will help increase student motivation, encourage consistent participation, and make abstract content more accessible and fun. Students will feel recognized for their effort and progress, which will promote a stronger sense of pride and engagement in biology learning.
