The overall purpose of this project is to provide wobble stools in the classroom to support the unique needs of students at Educational Pathways Academy, who have language-based learning disabilities as well as ADHD. Most of our student base requires extra support with focus, attention, and sensory input. The wobble stool has many benefits, as it provides students with a release of energy that assists them in honing in their focus to the task at hand.
This tool has been highly effective in increasing student engagement, task completion, and reducing distractions for both the individual student and the class as a whole. Additionally, it serves as a motivational incentive reward for students to choose from, which further promotes positive classroom behavior and ownership in learning.
By integrating wobble stools into daily instruction, the project directly addresses the need for increased attention and engagement while also supporting our broader academic goals. Students will be better able to sustain focus during reading, writing, and group discussions, ultimately strengthening their literacy skills and academic confidence.
Class Furniture - Carpets, transitional seating/desks, etc.
The project will provide wobble stools for daily use as part of students’ flexible seating options during Math, Robotics, and Physical Education classes, as well as across other subject areas. These stools will be integrated into the classroom environment to give students a practical and supportive resource for satisfying their physical, sensory, and attention input needs.
By incorporating wobble stools into daily routines, students will have the ability to release energy in a controlled way, which supports their ability to concentrate and remain engaged in learning. This project is designed to increase student participation, task completion, and focus, while also reducing classroom distractions. In addition, the wobble stools serve as a motivational incentive for students, giving them choice and ownership in their learning environment.
For Educational Pathways Academy, where students often require extra support with focus, attention, and sensory regulation, this project directly addresses a critical need. It provides teachers with an effective tool to foster student success while creating a more flexible and inclusive classroom setting that benefits the entire school community.
Through the use of wobble stools, students at Educational Pathways Academy will experience improvements in both academic engagement and physical well-being. Wobble stools promote better posture by engaging core muscles and encouraging an upright sitting position, which helps prevent back pain and supports long-term health. They also improve overall body awareness by stimulating proprioceptive input, which is critical for sensory integration and motor skills development. By engaging the vestibular system, students enhance their coordination, balance, and spatial orientation, all of which contribute to better self-regulation in the classroom.
Most importantly, wobble stools increase focus and concentration by promoting movement that boosts blood circulation and oxygen flow to the brain. This results in improved attention, stronger task completion, and fewer distractions for both individual students and the classroom as a whole.
Outcomes will be measured through teacher observations and reflections on student participation, focus, and engagement during daily instruction. Rather than tracking individual behaviors, teachers will notice overall trends in how students are able to sustain attention and complete tasks. These observations will be shared with families as part of student progress reports, allowing us to celebrate successes and highlight the positive impact of this resource on both academic and social-emotional growth.
I will use the classroom grant to purchase a set of 12 ECR4Kids Sitwell Wobble Stools. The grant covers almost the entire cost of this purchase.
