Goal(s)

The purpose of this project is to enhance the effectiveness of the elementary school counseling program at Sabal Palm Elementary (SPE) by providing essential counseling tools and resources that support the social, emotional, academic, and career development of my students. This project addresses evidence-based counseling interventions that promote mental health, positive behavior, and life skills. By equipping me with materials, tools, and program resources, this initiative ensures that all students have equitable access to comprehensive counseling services that foster resilience, self-management, and healthy interpersonal skills.

This project aligns with ASCA National Standards by supporting students’ academic, career, and social-emotional development. It also aligns with the Florida School Counseling Standards, which emphasize the counselor’s role in implementing programs that promote student achievement, personal responsibility, and social-emotional competence (Florida Department of Education, 2022).

Project Description

This project will provide the school counselor with essential tools and resources to enhance the delivery of a comprehensive school counseling program.

Activities include:
-Purchasing counseling curriculum materials, life skills resources, and tools for small groups and individual sessions.
-Implementing classroom lessons covering topics such as self-awareness, conflict resolution, goal-setting, and career awareness.
-Conducting small group interventions for students needing additional social and emotional support, including skill-building in self-management, communication, and decision-making.
-Providing professional development and consultation for teachers to integrate life skills strategies into classroom instruction.
 

 

Expected Outcomes

a) What will improve/change for students because of this project:
Students will experience measurable growth in social-emotional, academic, and career readiness skills.

Specifically, they will:

-Demonstrate improved self-awareness, self-management, and interpersonal skills.
-Develop stronger coping strategies to manage stress, anxiety, and peer conflicts.
-Engage more actively in classroom learning due to enhanced focus, motivation, and behavior.
-Gain foundational career awareness and goal-setting skills appropriate for elementary students.

These changes will contribute to a more positive school climate, increased student engagement, and stronger overall academic and personal outcomes.

b) How these outcomes will be measured:
Student outcomes will be assessed using a combination of quantitative and qualitative measures, including:

-Behavioral data such as office discipline referrals, attendance, and classroom participation rates (school wide PBIS)
-Teacher and parent feedback collected through surveys or anecdotal records to gauge observed changes in student behavior and engagement.
-Student work and reflections from counseling lessons and small group activities to demonstrate skill acquisition and application.
 

 

Purpose of Funding

The purpose of this funding is to provide essential counseling tools and resources to strengthen the elementary school counseling program at my school. These resources will support students’ life skills, academic, and career development, ensuring equitable access to comprehensive counseling services. Funding will allow the purchase of classroom materials, small-group intervention resources, and assessment tools. Please note that tax is not calculated for the requested items.
This project will enhance the delivery of a comprehensive school counseling program.
Approved items will be purchased through Amazon.com.
