The overall purpose of this project is to support 5th grade students through hands on projects and behavior incentives. We are inspiring the future through engagement and classroom management! This project addresses the need for certain online programs and activities to further our students' understanding of standards. It also provides classrooms with incentives to further student success.
Learning Aids - Sunshine state book sets, robotics kits, puzzle boards, science models, engineering supplies, etc.
This project will give our students the opportunity for more hands-on learning experiences such as: growing their own "grass people" using grass seed, soil, and cups. It will also allow us to purchase online subscription programs like ClassKick, a digital formative assessment tool used to create interactive lessons and assignments. Lastly, it will provide our classes with incentives for students who reach grade-level accomplishments.
This project will improve our 5th graders' learning by increasing the opportunity for more hands-on instruction. Students learn best when they are able to put their learning to the test in real time, and actually see the changes that occur. We will measure these outcomes by comparing their end of year science test scores to the scores from the year prior, when we did not provide these extra resources.
The grant funds will be used to purchase the following materials for the "grass people": soil, grass seed, plastic cups, pantyhose. It will also be used for a ClassKick subscription that was unable to be purchased with school funds this year. Lastly, these funds will go toward consumable materials for science models during our water and planet cycles, and behavior incentive prizes like stickers and toys.
