The goal would be for our transition level students to practice their skills learned in the classroom which helps to prepare them for real world skills that they will need to be as close to independent as possible!
Other -
We look at the national days for the month and choose our cooking activities based on those days as well as the recipes in our curriculum. Students will be making a shopping list based on the recipe, shopping for the ingredients and then preparing the recipe. They will also practice setting a table and appropriate manners.
Students benefit by this activity because they are able to practice real life skills that will benefit them once they complete the program. It gives them the opportunity to go out shopping to follow a list to get things needed to complete the recipe. They then will be able to cook and enjoy it! They will also be able to learn different cooking methods such as using a microwave, stove top and oven.
The funds received will be used for our cooking activities which are based off the national days and our curriculum recipes. The students will be able to put the skills learned in the classroom to use in real world setting (classroom, kitchen, and shopping at the store).
