The purpose of this project is to introduce students to lifetime activities at a young age so they become part of their fitness routines and enjoy them throughout their lives.
The learning goal that this grant addresses is from the CPALMS strand PE.7.R:6 Responsible Behaviors and Values, specifically for the students to value physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and/or social interaction.
Physical Education Equipment - Rackets, bats, balls, nets, jump ropes, etc.
In addition to traditional team sports that are played at Marco Island Charter Middle School (MICMS), we want to increase opportunities for our students to learn and participate in lifetime activities. These activities include individual and dual sports such as: Table Tennis, golf, badminton, bocce and bag toss.
This project will give students exposure to healthy activities and provide them the opportunity to explore individual and dual sports that are available to them throughout their lives.
Through this grant the students of MICMS will be provided with the opportunity to learn new lifelong activities, creating healthy lifestyle choices they will carry into their adult life. These activities will promote a healthy and active lifestyle which is the goal of the MICMS Physical Education department.
The Marco Island Charter Middle School Physical Education Department appreciates the opportunity to apply for this grant on behalf of all the students in our school community. Each and every student enrolled in our school will use the equipment selected, and as a result it will positively impact health, fitness behavior and attendance.
