As a second-year high school science teacher, I am still building my classroom resources. Many of my students have special needs and learn best when information is presented visually. Unfortunately, my classroom currently lacks visual supports such as science posters and models that can help make abstract concepts more concrete and accessible.
Learning Aids - Sunshine state book sets, robotics kits, puzzle boards, science models, engineering supplies, etc.
This project will provide my students with visual learning tools such as posters of the water cycle, DNA structure, and scientific prefixes, as well as models like a DNA double helix. These materials will serve as daily references that reinforce lessons, support independent learning, and encourage curiosity. Visual and tactile tools help my students retain information, stay engaged, and build confidence in their ability to understand science.
With these resources, students will have constant visual reminders of core science concepts, making learning more meaningful and less intimidating. These tools will particularly benefit my special needs students by providing them with the scaffolds they need to process information and participate more fully in classroom activities. Ultimately, this project will help create a more inclusive and engaging science environment where all learners can succeed.
This grant will be used to buy the educational posters. The posters and models are durable resources that can be used year after year, supporting not only my current students but also future classes. They will become a permanent part of my classroom environment, ensuring that the impact extends well beyond this school year.
