Goal(s)

The overall purpose of this project is to promote leadership and student safety by providing our 5th grade safety patrols with materials to further their role around the campus.

Project Description

This project includes safety patrol items from the AAA website, including neon yellow safety patrol hats, which help our 5th graders stand out on campus. This is important during dismissal when they help at car line and with young students walking home. It also allows them to be easily identified when a younger student or staff member may need help. This project includes apron belts that the safety patrols can wear, which will hold school "bucks" that can be given to younger students following expectations. It will also hold instructional materials like flashcards, which they have been trained to use with the younger students in the hallway before school. Lastly, this project includes end of year rewards for the safety patrols who truly shined by being leaders and keeping our school safe!

Expected Outcomes

This project will improve the school-wide job that our safety patrols do by allowing them to be more identifiable to students and staff and give them more materials so they can work with young students in the mornings before school. At the end of the year, we will send out a survey asking students and staff for comments and critiques so that we can measure the improvements.

Purpose of Funding

This project will benefit every student and staff member at Herbert Cambridge Elementary by improving student safety and fostering leadership in the 5th grade patrols.
