Project Description

This project is to celebrate students who reach Art’s PBIS with brain break activities along with rewards for students who follow directions in the art room. This project meets the needs of all students spanning k-5th grade levels by promoting accountability along with teamwork. If student follows directions and demonstrates great behavior they will receive a “secret ducky” prize or water bottle sticker. Also, if the grade level receives five “Art Stars” consecutively the class will be rewarded with art board games or brain break toys. The brain break toys will support students who need more one on one intervention and constant breaks between directions.

Expected Outcomes

This PBIS project aims to promote positive behaviors in the art classroom by implementing a rewards-based system. As a result, students behavior will improve along with, increased engagement, and greater respect for classroom expectations.
For students who require additional behavioral or engagement support, timers will be used to help them stay focused and complete tasks in manageable steps. As a motivational tool, these students will receive short breaks and access to fidget toys between steps as a reward and regulation strategy, promoting their full participation in the art classroom.
Outcomes will be measured by tracking student participation in the “Secret Student” ducky award program, as well as monitoring behavior patterns individually through daily attendance. The star chart records positive behavior by grade level and provides a clear visual of progress over time.
