Project Description

Leader in Me is a whole-school leadership and character-building program that empowers students to take ownership of their learning and behavior. As a 5th grade class, we are working to fully implement and practice the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Kids by incorporating leadership opportunities, goal-setting, and reflective practices into our daily routine.

However, to sustain excitement and engagement, we have daily, weekly, and monthly celebrations that reward students for showing leadership in various ways — academically, socially, and personally.

With grant funding, we will:
*I will be able to recognize students' academic growth, leadership habits, and positive behaviors
*Provide small prizes as immediate rewards for those behaviors (bracelets, fidget toys, etc.)
*Maintain a Leadership Showcase (bulletin board) to publicly honor student progress with fun certificates

Celebrations will be inclusive, focusing not just on academic achievement but also on kindness, responsibility, creativity, and teamwork — helping every student find a way to shine.

Expected Outcomes

By the end of the school year, we expect to see:
*Increased student motivation and enthusiasm for school and learning
*Improved classroom behavior as students take greater ownership of their choices
*Stronger leadership habits, such as goal-setting, time management, and collaboration
*Positive peer relationships through a supportive and encouraging classroom culture
*Family engagement through recognition events (open house, leadership day)

Purpose of Funding

Grant funds will be used to purchase materials for recognition and leadership incentives. These celebrations will help create a positive, engaging learning environment where students feel valued, empowered, and inspired to become leaders in both school and life.
