Goal(s)

The purpose of this project is to provide floor lamps for the classroom to create a brighter, more welcoming, and focused learning environment. Many classrooms have limited or harsh overhead lighting, which can cause eye strain, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating. By adding floor lamps, the project addresses the need for softer, more evenly distributed lighting that supports student comfort and attention.
The academic outcome of this project is to improve student engagement, focus, and stamina during instructional time. A well-lit classroom helps students read more easily, stay alert during lessons, and feel more comfortable while working independently or in small groups. By creating an environment that minimizes distractions and physical discomfort, the project supports stronger academic performance and overall student well-being.

Project Description

With the addition of floor lamps, the classroom will have flexible lighting options to support different instructional activities. Lamps will be strategically placed in reading corners, small group work areas, and around student desks to reduce shadows and brighten workspaces. Teachers and students will use the lamps daily to create a more calming and productive atmosphere during lessons, independent reading, and technology-based learning. 

 

Expected Outcomes

Students will benefit from a more comfortable learning environment that reduces eye strain and promotes sustained focus. Teachers will notice fewer student complaints about lighting and greater ease in managing classroom tasks. Outcomes will be measured informally through teacher observation, student feedback about the classroom environment, and evidence of stronger engagement during independent and group work. Purpose of Funding

The grant funds will be used to purchase floor lamps that will be placed throughout the classroom to improve lighting conditions.
