Many of the texts will inspire students to conduct further research and spark debates on topics presented. Students will be asked to conduct research and find out more about different current issues, take a position, and inform peers. This will occur through assignments, projects, presentations, debates, and a multitude of writing response activities that are aligned specifically to 7th grade students and their curriculum.

Expected Outcomes

In our digital world children are not exposed to printed news, as in the past. Seventh graders at East Naples middle school will have the ability to hold the magazine, see colorful photographs, and read texts, on a variety of topics, from a peer's point of view. These are topics that are connected to science, weather events, animals, social studies, and social issues. Having this exposure will increase each child's experiences, thus helping provide background information, and additionally help in shaping his or her perspective on current events. This magazine is written specifically for their age group and has stories of interest for them.
