Project Description

The students in our special needs program need positive reinforcement to succeed in school. Positive reinforcement, whether through tangible items (e.g., favorite toys) or activities (e.g., extra free time), effectively increases the likelihood of desired behaviors, enhances focus, learning, self-esteem, and social skills. This project will help our students achieve their goals and work towards integration in the general education classroom.

Expected Outcomes

Donating to a special needs classroom goes beyond just buying supplies—it's about empowering students to learn, grow, and thrive on their own terms. These resources help students engage, communicate, develop independence, and participate fully in classroom activities. Schools often lack budget for these essentials, making donations indispensable.

Purpose of Funding

The items in this project will help our IBI 3 students succeed in school. The positive reinforcement items will used in our classroom stores. Students earn money for positive work and behaviors and then shop in the store. The edible reinforcements will be used throughout the day to promote favorable behaviors and our snack cart at the end of the day. Sensory tools—like fidget toys or tactile objects—help students manage stimuli that might be overwhelming. They provide grounding sensory input, which improves attention, reduces anxiety, and supports emotional regulation within the classroom. This has been shown to boost on-task behavior and decrease overstimulation.
