The goal of this project is to supply students with the supplies they need to be able to begin their journey on becoming an instrumentalist. These supplies enable the students to properly set up and play their instruments with good form. Throughout the course the students start from little to no knowledge of how to play an instrument to being able to tune, rehears, read notes, rhythms, analyze music for it's parts and culminates in performing in front of their parents and peers.
Other -
This project will have immediate impact on the students and classroom. Many of our shoulder rests have loose feet or screws causing them to fall off or not support the instrument properly. Some students don't even have access to these tools yet. Adding the proper toolkit to these students' instruments and putting the tools of a tuner in their hand will help them visualize and train their ears bodies to become instrumentalists.
Learning an Orchestral instrument in middle school will not only give the students the ability to read music and ready them for continuation into high school and college music programs but also teaches them many functional skills to use outside of music such as rehearsal/training discipline, multitasking, coordination, and teamwork. These skills are assessed through playing tests, sectional rehearsals, and mastery checks throughout the year. The proper tools like shoulder rests and tuners aids in the children having the proper form and tools to sound and look like a professional group of musicians.
These are well reviewed, good quality shoulder rests and tuners. Simply designed that 6th grade musicians will be able to quickly understand how to put on and use these tools.
