This project will supplement the ELA curriculum with multi-sensory learning activities for students who struggle with reading. It will motivate students to learn their letters and sounds, providing decoding and encoding opportunities through fun activities to reinforce the district curriculum.
Learning Aids - Sunshine state book sets, robotics kits, puzzle boards, science models, engineering supplies, etc.
I work with students who are 1-2 years below grade level in reading. These students have difficulty connecting letters to sounds. These students have difficulty remembering the letters in their first name. I would like funding to provide supplemental multi-sensory ELA activities and games that will supplement the curriculum provided by Collier County School district.
The students I work with have difficulty decoding and encoding activities. Many of these students avoid reading activities because it exhausts them; they have difficulty remembering letters and sounds and they lack foundational skills; blending sounds into words. If awarded this grant; it will allow me to supplement the curriculum with fun games and activities to reinforce the skills and strategies taught throughout the week. It will motivate students to practice what they learned thoughout the week and create motivation to continue to learn. These activities will be used to motivate and reward effort.
