Goal(s)

At our school, each student participates in a monthly club time. Students choose these clubs based on their interests. This year, I am running a club called Crafting for a Cause. This will allow students to express themselves creatively while also learning the importance of community service.

Project Description

These supplies will be used for different crafts throughout the year. Each month, we will do a different craft that will be donated to a different cause. We will learn about the charity/organization, then learn a new craft to do. Then we will donate them to that cause. Some of the things we will do are:
-Make patriotic wreaths to send to Veterans for Veterans Day
-Paint ornaments to donate to nursing home residents
-Make cat toys to donate to the Humane Society
-Make Adoption posters to hang on dog cages at Domestic Animal Services
-Make Greeting Cards/letters to send to "Send a Smile 4 Kids" They distribute to kids fighting cancer
-Make placemats to donate to Meals on Wheels
-Paint rocks with inspiring messages to spread around our community
-Make beaded key chains to donate to a Foster Care Organization
-Paint flower pots with plants growing in them to be donated to a Hospital or nursing home

Expected Outcomes

I am hoping that this will teach the students the importance of community service while also allowing them to express their love of arts and crafts. I think these crafts will lift the spirits of the people that receive them as well. Teaching kids to give back to the community will instill a life-long lesson of the importance of helping others.
