This grant seeks funding to provide essential daily care supplies—including diapers, wipes, gloves, feeding tools, and adaptive drinkware—for students with significant medical, cognitive, and developmental needs. These items are crucial for preserving students’ dignity, ensuring health and hygiene, and supporting safe and skill-building mealtime experiences.

Our special education unit serves students with diverse and complex needs, many of whom require intensive support with activities of daily living such as toileting, feeding, and drinking. To meet these needs, our staff provides hands-on assistance and therapeutic support throughout the school day. However, the high volume of essential supplies we require—particularly diapers, wipes, gloves, adaptive utensils, and cups—often exceeds what is available through school or family contributions alone.
This grant would help us obtain:
Disposable gloves for safe and sanitary diapering and feeding support.
Diapers and wipes in a range of sizes for students who are not yet fully toilet trained.
Feeding therapy spoons designed for safe oral-motor skill development and adaptive feeding.
Reusable water bottles or sippy cups to support hydration, independence, and oral-motor skills for students with feeding challenges.
These supplies are more than just basic needs—they are critical teaching tools. Diapering routines become moments to build communication, body awareness, and independence. Feeding time is not only for nourishment, but for promoting oral-motor development, requesting skills, and positive sensory experiences. Hydration routines build independence, increase engagement, and support overall well-being.
With these resources, our team will:
Maintain high standards of hygiene and reduce the risk of illness or infection.
Support functional independence in feeding and drinking through repetition, modeling, and adaptive tools.
Foster dignity and comfort in toileting routines for students with significant needs.
Reinforce communication and life skills during daily care routines, turning every moment into a learning opportunity.
These foundational supplies ensure our students are cared for safely, respectfully, and effectively while also supporting skill-building in essential areas. By funding this grant, Champions for Learning will be investing directly in the comfort, health, and dignity of students with significant disabilities—ensuring that their basic needs are met with care and compassion every single day.
