The Global Classroom Grant aims to enrich Spanish 1 and 2 instruction by transforming the classroom into a dynamic space for real-world, culturally responsive learning. This project addresses the need for increased student engagement, global awareness, and equitable access to high-quality language resources. This grant seeks to bridge that gap by providing resources such as authentic materials, culturally relevant activities, technology tools, and classroom visuals that bring the Spanish-speaking world directly into the classroom. Original magazines from Spanish-speaking countries, original food, original clothes, etc.
School-Wide, Grade-Level, Or Class Events/Programs - Parent Nights, Honor Roll Celebrations, EOY Events, etc.
a)The Global Classroom Grant will transform my Spanish 1 and 2 classes into immersive, culturally rich environments where students actively engage with the Spanish language, rather than simply studying it. This project includes the following key activities:
Interactive Visual Learning: Acquisition of maps, flags, vocabulary posters, and grammar charts to create a visual and culturally engaging classroom.
Authentic Resources: Purchase of Spanish-language books, songs, short videos, and cultural artifacts representing a variety of Spanish-speaking countries.
Hands-On Cultural Activities: Funding for materials used in classroom experiences such as Day of the Dead altars, food tasting events, music workshops, and crafts tied to cultural holidays and traditions.
b)This project will meet several key needs in our classroom and school community:
Enhancing Equity: Many students do not have prior exposure to world languages or global experiences. This grant helps close that gap by making language learning more accessible and inclusive.
Fostering Cultural Awareness and Respect: By exploring authentic materials and traditions from diverse Spanish-speaking cultures, students will build empathy and a more global mindset.
Supporting Teacher Effectiveness: With more resources, I can differentiate instruction more effectively, meet individual student needs, and foster a more inspiring and interactive learning environment.
a) As a result of The Global Classroom Grant, students in Spanish 1 and 2 will experience measurable growth in both language proficiency and cultural awareness. The classroom will become an immersive, engaging space that fosters curiosity, confidence, and connection.
b) Outcomes will be measured using a combination of qualitative and quantitative tools:
Pre- and post-project surveys measuring students’ attitudes toward language learning and cultural appreciation.
Performance-based assessments such as presentations, dialogues, and projects demonstrate vocabulary and grammar use in context.
Participation and engagement tracking, including frequency of student contributions, use of Spanish during class activities, and completion of cultural tasks.
Formative assessments (quizzes, exit tickets, listening tasks) to monitor vocabulary retention and comprehension.
The funds from the Global Classroom Grant will be used to create an immersive, culturally rich, and engaging learning environment for Spanish 1 and 2 students. The grant will support the purchase of instructional tools, cultural materials, and technology-based resources that align with Fl standards for world language education and support all learning styles.
The grant will allow students to actively experience the Spanish language through speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural exploration—preparing them not only for academic success, but for life in a multicultural world.
For example:
The Grant will be used to support Hands-On Projects and Active Learning: Providing art supplies and materials for student-created cultural projects such as Día de los Muertos altars, papel picado decorations, and country showcases.
