The "Leading from the Chair" program is designed to cultivate leadership skills among 5th-grade students by providing structured opportunities for responsibility, teamwork and academics. Through house meetings, school-wide initiatives, and student-led activities, students will learn to lead with integrity, empathy, and confidence. Students will earn a leadership chair representing their role and commitment to guiding their housemates and positively contributing to the school community.
School-Wide, Grade-Level, Or Class Events/Programs - Parent Nights, Honor Roll Celebrations, EOY Events, etc.
The "Leading from the Chair" program utilizes a school house system to foster leadership, collaboration, and community among 5th grade students. Students are divided into distinct houses, each with its own name, colors and values - promoting friendly competition and teamwork. Within each house, students take on leadership roles, guiding peers in school-wide projects, service initiatives, and academic challenges. To earn a leadership chair, students must fill out an application, go through an interview process, and provide references. The designated chairs for the student leaders will recognize their official roles within each house.
This program builds a culture of leadership and accountability while enhancing school spirit and student engagement school wide. Outcomes will be measured by the number of leadership opprotunities and number of leadership applicants.
These funds will be used to purchase the leadership chairs through Amazon and have a local business create a specific house iron on design.
