To provide Immokalee High School students with the resources needed to grow in their knowledge of technical theatre skills. Technical theatre allows students to design, create, and facilitate and students who learn technical skills are better prepared for collegiate programs and careers after high school.
Learning Aids - Sunshine state book sets, robotics kits, puzzle boards, science models, engineering supplies, etc.
Students will receive hands-on training in technical design and production using the curriculum resources provided. Curriculum resources include reference books that will be added to the classroom library and programs that students will be able to access on the theatre program laptop. Technical aspects that are supported by the curriculum resources include:
1. Light and Sound Design
2. Film and Photo Editing
3. Set Design and Construction
4. Script Writing
5. Costuming
6. Construction
Students will receive training on technology that has become an industry-wide standard. Students will be able to devise original theatre pieces, design and run sound and light cues, manage a stage production, design and construct sets, manage the front-of-house and business aspects of the theatre, and design costumes. In addition, licensing rights will allow students to use their learned skills in practice to develop film and stage productions. All textbooks selected are recommended by the United States Institute for Theatre Technology for high school students who wish to prepare for the Backstage Exam.
1. A class bookshelf will be created with reference books recommended by the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) for preparing students for the Backstage Exam and careers in theatre technology.
2. 3-D Vista's Virtual Tour Pro would allow students to edit photos to design immersive environments for stage design.
3. A subscription to Artlist will provide students with access to SFX sound effects and music to use in theatrical performances. This license provides students with a comprehensive database to use when designing sound plots for stage and film.
4. Final Draft provides students with the technology for storyboarding and scriptwriting. This software is an industry standard that teaches students how to plan and format scripts for both screen and stage.
