Goal
Conduct ongoing research on the effectiveness of an innovative in-vehicle driving feedback technology to reduce risky driving events and unsafe driving behaviors. Additionally, to provide hardware for the Driver Education vehicle to improve overall safety of the occupants, and a stipend to off-set permit costs.
The purpose of the Driver Education course is to introduce students to the highway transportation system and strategies that will develop driving knowledge related to today's and tomorrow's motorized society. It will also provide an in-depth study of the scope and nature of accident problems and their solutions.
What will be done with my students
Students are on a rotating driving schedule during school hours. 3-4 students are in vehicle with the Driver education teacher. Students switch out driving to optimize behind the wheel experience. Students will analyze collected data for behind the wheel improvement.
Benefits to my students
A dash cam adds another way to monitor a driver who is being trained for the first time, or being coached to become a better driver. With a dash cam, you can see exactly what the driver is seeing when they are behind the wheel. In addition to the dashcam, the vehicle requires hardware to improve overall safety of the occupants. Additionally, the signage and other hardware will improve overall safety for the occupants.
