My class and I would like to sincerely thank you for your generous donation to our classroom. Because of your kindness, we were able to purchase a full set of Sunshine State Young Readers Award (SSYRA) books, along with Accelerated Reader brag tags to celebrate and encourage our students’ reading achievements.

 

Your support has already sparked so much excitement among my fourth graders. They loved diving into these wonderful stories, and the brag tags have added an extra layer of motivation and pride as they meet their reading goals. It's been such a joy to see their faces light up with each new book and accomplishment. In addition to that, several of my students were able to partake in voting for their favorite Sunshine State book when the Collier County Supervisor of Elections came in with real voting machine for them to use.  The votes were tallied up all across the state of Florida like a real election. It was a great experience for them. 

 

Your generosity is making a real difference in their love for reading and learning. Thank you for believing in our students and helping us create a classroom where every student was able to experience the joy of reading!

Goal

Create a classroom environment that promotes the love of reading for all students. Sunshine State books create a buzz of excitement, helping to motivate students to develop their independent reading skills.  

 

Category

Learning Aids - Sunshine state book sets, robotics kits, puzzle boards, science models, engineering supplies, etc. 

 

What will be done with my students

By getting a set of Sunshine State books, my students will have the opportunity to have their own class copy of all 15 Sunshine State books. Having access to all 15 books allows my students the ability to read books that are highly sought after and often not available at the media center. After reading, students will have the opportunity to take an Accelerated Reader quiz on the book and earn a brag tag.

In addition to the books, students will be able to earn a brag tag that is labeled with a unique illustration that goes along with the book.  

 

Benefits to my students

The Sunshine State Young Readers Award (SSYRA) program is a Florida state wide motivational reading program that is designed to encourage young reader to read independently for enjoyment. The various genres, curriculum connections, and wide appeal help motivate students to read more. Sunshine State books help create a love of reading that can last a lifetime.  

 

Budget Narrative

Funding will go towards a set of all 15 Sunshine State Readers Grades 3-5. As well as sets of accelerated reader brag tags (at different levels) plus shipping and handling.
