Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 200

This generous grant was used to purchase two brand new sets of two level carpeted choral risers for the Seacrest Country Day School Arts Program. They have already been used and loved by our students for our seven grade level lower school spring musicals. From preschool to fifth grade students, almost 200 children have already taken the stage on our new risers. They have truly elevated our school productions and I look forward to sharing them with the middle school and upper school community for future events.

 

Taking the stage requires so much bravery, and having these risers has allowed my students' confidence on stage to shine! Our new risers are safe, comfortable, and allow all children to be in perfect view for their families. These choral risers have already helped create so many memories for my students, and we are all so grateful for Champions for Learning and the investors who made this project come to fruition!

 

In addition to fulfilling this grant, my students and I were also blessed with the opportunity to share our music at the Golden Apple Celebration of Teachers. My third grade music class was honored to be a part of such a meaningful and inspiring event, and I will always treasure the memory of leading my class in a tribute to all of the outstanding teachers in Naples. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

The Arts are a vital part of our community as they bring students of all ages together through the power of music and theater. Our goal is to enhance the educational experience of our music students by securing funds for high-quality, adjustable choral risers.

What will be done with my students

Risers allow students to be arranged in a tiered setup, ensuring that everyone is visible to the conductor and each other. This clear sightline improves communication and coordination during rehearsals. The risers will maximize the use of classroom space, allowing for more students to participate comfortably without feeling cramped. In addition to a more organized rehearsal process, the risers will also play a role in our many stage performances. From our annual holiday showcase to our grade level spring musical productions, and several talent shows in between, these risers will get extensive use throughout the year, and will allow for a higher capacity of students performing at one time.  

 

Benefits to my students

Choral risers will significantly benefit our music students by creating a more organized and effective performance environment. With adjustable risers, every student will have a clear line of sight to the conductor and fellow singers, which enhances coordination and teamwork. The improved sound projection will allow for a more balanced and harmonious performance, helping students better hear and blend with each other. Additionally, having a designated, elevated space for performances boosts students' confidence and stage presence, ultimately contributing to their growth as skilled and expressive musicians. The choral risers will not only benefit our current students but also future generations, contributing to a lasting legacy of musical excellence and collaboration within our school community. 

 

Budget Narrative

This grant will fund a set of three tiered choral risers from Hertz Furniture priced at $1739.00 per set. The grant request includes an allowance for shipping fees of an estimated $260.00 that was provided through a quote with the company.
