Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 60

This grant allowed for many great additions to my classroom this year. Once funded, I was able to purchase wobble stools that students could choose as their flexible seating. They have been a hit all year and many students have said they wish they could take the stool with them to 4th grade! This grant also helped create many learning opportunities in our science classes. I was able to print colorful pictures and manipulatives for our plant and animal units. We also purchased materials to create and decorate our "grass head people". These were grass seeds in stockings, decorated to look like faces. As the grass grew, it began to look like hair, and students were able to study how sunlight stimulated growth. It has been a very exciting year in 3rd grade and many of these engaging activities could not have been done without help from this grant! Thank you!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

To maximize student learning through creative activities and classroom accommodations.

Category

Class Furniture - Carpets, choral risers, transitional seating/desks, etc.

What will be done with my students

The wobble stools and audio jacks will be used for students who need a little extra support in class. Whether that be the opportunity for movement while staying seated, which minimizes time lost during instruction, or audio splitters so that students can work cooperatively to complete online assignments. The black lights will be used for a glow day room transformation to help with math review. We will use the pumpkins and paint to create our favorite characters from stories we have read this year, and describe their character traits. The printer ink and consumables will be used for extra items needed during these exciting activities like paper, markers, paintbrushes, cups, etc).

Benefits to my students

The materials used for planned room transformations / activities will engage our learners with a fun adventure while ensuring comprehension of critical content. The accommodating classroom resources will be used to help students who struggle with language and focus.

Budget Narrative

These supplies will benefit the entire 3rd grade at Herbert Cambridge Elementary
